The Villages - Fenney area
The Fenney section of The Villages is the newest part of the development. One of the main features of Fenney is that the Morse family was able to incorporate many of the residents suggestions over the years and add them to this part of the development. Things like a dog park and a miniature golf type recreation area have been incorporated in Fenney. It also features over 13 miles of nature trails for walking or biking. It is nestled between Highway 40 and the Florida Turnpike. Riding the golf cart paths from Fenney to Brownwood entails many tunnels and the new large expansive bridges that cross both Highway 40 and the Turnpike.
Basic Border of the Area
The main borders around the Fenney area are somewhat fluid as there are no main arteries that border this area on the west or south. With that being said the border of the north would be Highway 42. The eastern border lies just east of Morse Blvd. The southern border is just south of the Florida Turnpike and the western border would be Highway 301 if it continued south where it intersects with Warm Springs Ave.
Recreation Center/Country Club Overview
Throughout the entire development of The Villages you will find Recreation Centers where social clubs and leisure activities are offered. In addition you will find The Country Clubs where you will find some of the best dining options offered in The Villages.
There are three different types of Recreation Centers:
Neighborhood Recreation Centers – These are found inside every Village and generally host the smaller social club events.
Village Recreation Centers – These centers are usually centrally located around a number of the neighborhoods or Villages and will host larger social clubs and offer league activities in various leisure and sport activities. You will also find the Family Pools at these centers which allow children and families that are visiting to use them.
Water Lily Recreation Center
Spanish Moss Recreation Center
Regional Recreation Centers – These are the largest of the centers and have the largest rooms to accommodate banquets and large gatherings. Most of them have fitness centers and the Adult Pools that children aren’t allowed to use.
Chitty Chatty Recreation Center
Fenney Recreation Center
This is merely an overview of the shopping and dining options found within the Spanish Springs area and may not necessarily contain all of those options that are currently available. The main shopping option in the Fenney area is the Lake Deaton plaza located on Highway 44 and Morse Blvd. It is a smaller plaza anchored by Publix with limited dining options that currently only offer a China Gourmet.
You will notice two separate sections on the map below. The section on the left displays the border of the entire retirement community of The Villages. The section on the right displays the specific area within The Villages that is described above.
